Information for our customers:
DAKO AG, based in Wiesentheid, Franconia, has long been recognized as a supplier and manufacturer of specialty components for the lubricant industry and special lubricants used in synthetic fiber production. Building on this expertise, the company has developed a dedicated product range of components based on cis-omega-9 oleic acid for diverse industrial applications.
The fatty acid itself (cis-omega-9 oleic acid) is sustainably produced at the company’s facility in Lower Franconia from locally sourced, renewable raw materials under very low reaction temperatures. It is readily biodegradable and, thanks to its favorable energy balance, is available in industrial volumes with a high purity of at least 90%, while remaining cost-efficient.
Derivatives made from this fatty acid, marketed under the brand name NONAMEG Oleic Acid, offer components for a wide spectrum of applications, ranging from lubricant additives to emulsifiers. They provide an effective replacement for low- to medium-viscosity mineral oils, delivering all the associated benefits. Like the fatty acid itself, these derivatives are renewable, locally available, and characterized by a low carbon footprint.
NONAMEG fatty acid and its derivatives are produced in proprietary facilities using in-house processes at low reaction temperatures. Owing to the chemical structure of the fatty acid and the low salt content of the derivatives, they exhibit exceptional oxidative stability. Depending on the application, the components require little to no antioxidants or other additives to achieve the desired performance properties.
As a result, the fatty acid and its derivatives are ideally suited for formulations in a wide range of technical applications, including hydraulic oils, transmission fluids, transformer oils, heat transfer oils, rolling oils, forming oils, and similar uses. They are also well-suited for formulations in wood or lacquer care. Furthermore, applications have been identified in the pharmaceutical sector as well as in the production of high-resolution screens.

NONAMEG® 91
Description:
NONAMEG® 91 is entirely of plant origin and produced using a biological low-temperature process.
It represents a further development of MB 6098, utilizing the same raw material but with an adapted production process.
The mild processing conditions prevent oxidative pre-damage to the oleic acid. At the same time, the low energy input ensures a reduced CO2 footprint (PCF).
With a high content of monounsaturated oleic acid (C18:1) exceeding 90%, combined with a low proportion of polyunsaturated fatty acids C18:2 (<3%) and C18:3 (<0.1%), NONAMEG 91 demonstrates significantly improved oxidative stability compared to conventional technical oleic acids available on the market.

| Comparison of fatty acid composition: | C 18:1 | C 18:2 |
|---|---|---|
| NONAMEG 91 | 90% | 2-3,5% |
| Technical olein, palm oil based | 70-78% | 10-20% |
| Oleic acid, rapeseed oil-based | 60-70% | 18-23% |
Due to this composition, NONAMEG 91 fatty acid exhibits a low tendency to react with oxygen, resulting in excellent oxidative stability not only of the product itself but also of its derivatives and formulations.
This stability allows for significantly extended service life of corresponding formulations and applications.
The clearly defined structure makes NONAMEG 91 an ideal base component for chemical syntheses, such as esterification reactions.
Recent research publications in the pharmaceutical field highlight remarkable effects of oleic acid and its derivatives across various areas.
In both dietary supplements and cosmetic formulations, the use of pure oleic acid has demonstrated interesting effects. Corresponding NONAMEG derivatives are available.
